Trauma therapy focuses on reducing strong reactions and intense memories related to trauma. My work focuses on the use of eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. As memories are processed, we can build better coping skills and a kinder inner voice. This changes how we move through the world and relate to others. Therapy provides a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to express thoughts and feelings and decide what’s next.
Relational therapy focuses on tracking and identifying patterns of interaction that are helping or hurting the members. Who ever they working with family therapist strive to avoid blame and instead focus on the patterns and interactions happening within relationships. Family therapist can provide individual, couple, or family sessions.
Hello! I'm Megan
Trauma and Relational Therapist
I’m a licensed family therapist in the state of Indiana. I completed my bachelors and masters degree at Purdue University and my doctoral degree at the University of Georgia. My focus is trauma treatment using EMDR and helping people build healthier relationships. I am passionate about my work and ensuring the best care for my clients. In session, I value the use of play and humor while maintaining a sense of perspective and accountability. I want my client’s to make progress and see the changes they want. I often work with parents whose on childhood experiences are impacting their parenting, adults working through trauma, and women with ADHD and autism. I’m a directive therapist who is comfortable mediating conflict and coaching communication skills.
Outside of my office, I spend time with my four boys (yes, my house is very loud) and husband. I love spending time reading, drawing, and being outside. I have a serious sweet tooth and love a good scary movie. When under stress, I love to dance or ride my bike. My friends would describe me as straight-forward, genuine, creative, energetic, and a bit of a nerd.
