FAQ

During a first session we’ll go over the process of therapy as well as the details like payment, scheduling, and confidentiality. We’ll also focus on what your goals are for therapy and how we can achieve those goals. If there are kids in session, first sessions will also include play time and explore the space.

My first in-person session starts at 8am and my last begins at 3:00pm. I’m available Monday-Thursday. I have some evening and Friday appointments for established clients. I am available both virtually and in-person.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It uses bilateral stimulation (any sensation that moves between left and right side of our bodies) to help our brain move past traumatic memories to decrease the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. For more info, check out this article by the Cleveland Clinic.

I’m open to all ages. I have had children as young as 18 months and worked with adults well into their seventies. I have extensive training in child development and welcome all kids (and adults) in session. I believe the entire life span is important and anyone can benefit from therapy regardless of age.

Maybe. My focus is on family systems but not all problems need the whole family involved. For stress in a marriage or romantic relationship, I recommend having your partner involved. Couples therapy tends to solve problems faster than individual therapy and can help strengthen your relationship overall. When working with children, I encourage all parents to be involved. I see your child for only an hour a week, you have them the rest of time. To ensure we’re making process, I find family work to be the most effective in helping children and teens.

I currently work with two practices in the state and offer my services both with and without insurance. My self-pay costs are $115 a session. I take Aetna, Anthem/BCBS, Medicaid/HIP, MDWise, MHS, SIHO, and Tri-Care. For self pay click here  and to use insurance click here.

I think mental health services should be accessible for everyone. I offer lower fees when services may not be otherwise affordable. I also work with a network of other providers in the area to connect clients to counselors who can provide the services they need. If you’re struggling to find a provider you can afford, please send me a message.

I’m a trained couple and family therapist so one of my big areas of work is relationships. I work with people to figure out how they interact in their relationships and what we want to change to help. This can include the relationship you have with your parents, kids, parents, friends, even your boss! The cool part of this work is I can do it even with just one person in the room. I’m also trained in trauma processing which focuses helping overcome traumatic experiences .

If you want the clinical answer: I use emotionally focused therapy and Gottman therapy with couples and play, attachment, and filial therapy with kids and family. When working with individuals I find a blend of family systems, attachment, and humanistic therapy to be most helpful.
